The York is in a very handy spot, just a couple of minutes from Angel tube, and one of the few proper pubs left on Islington's main drag. The beer is good - Pride, Bombardier and guests on the many hand pumps, supported by a decent wine list and the usual spirits - and it's promptly and pleasantly served.

It's a big pub, so there's usually plenty of room, although it does get crowded, at the weekends and especially after the antique market closes. There are a few screens dotted around the place, so it's also a popular spot for watching sport. And the front area is really wide and great place to sit on sunny days or warm nights...
