Tate Modern E-mail

The Tate Modern is Britain's national museum of international modern art in South Bank. The building is former Bankside Power Station and, built in two stages between 1947 and 1963. The power station closed in 1981. Afterwards the building was converted into a museum and, opened on 12 May 2000. 

 

An exhibitionDo you feel happy when you see a Miro, Picasso, Monet, Bacon or Dali or witness the evolution of abstract art? Then Tate Modern is a must-see museum for you. The museum cocnsists of 5 levels; 3rd and 5th levels contain; Material Gestures, Poetry and Dream, Conceptual Models, States of Flux and at Level 2 you will find a contemporary exhibition.  You may find Austrian section offensive, but give it a try at least.You can start with Level 2 exhibition, continue to Level 3 (Material Gestures, Poetry and Dream) and if you can still walk take the Level 5 tour. And don't forget to visit the main shop (not the one beside the cafe, the real one is downstares, at Level 1) that is said to be combines the widest range of books on modern art and culture with a fantastic choice for children in the UK. And of course you will find some variety of DVDs, T-shirts and the handcrafted jewellery. This really is a shop that repays a visit in its own right.

Entry is free for the permanent collection and some temporary exhibitions. And passing through the Thames via Millennium Bridge is highly recommended  after/before visiting Tate Modern.
