Since London isn't built in a day, it is not possible to see everything in London in 1 day. But it is possible to experience London's highlights on a brief visit.

You have two options;

If you define yourself as a nature person;Image

  • Start your day with some fresh air in Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. Of course birds, squirrels and the smell of the nature is unique but you should pop in the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens and enrich your soul in a different way. Click here for What's On at Serpentine Gallery.

  • Then continue to walk through the Exhibition Road, you will find the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain, which is one of London's most popular attractions with about one million visitors each year. Click here for more info.
  • Make some shopping to have a picnic, if you are lucky enough to find a sunny day in London. In other words, lounge on the grass which is the best way to relax.
  • Exit at the Hyde Park Corner, walk along Constitution Hill and take in the view of Buckingham Palace.

If you define yourself as an urban person;Image

  • Starting your day at Portobello Market, Notting Hill if it is Saturday might be a good idea if you want to see one of the best known markets. If not continue with the following :)
  • Start your day at Trafalgar Square,
  • Then head your way down to Westminister. Visit the Westminster Abbey. Entry charge  for adults is 12 pounds, but it is really worth it since the building is 700 years old and is the living pageant of the British History. You can choose the free pamphlets instead of the offered audio guides.
  • View Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.Then take a walk through Westminster Bridge and take a spin on London Eye.
  • And go to the Tate Modern,  entry is free for the permanent collection and some temporary exhibitions. But do not forget to bring some snacks, since you will need energy for the tour...
  • If it is thursday, friday or saturday, definitely visit Borough Market and grab some takeaways from the german, spanish, turkish, italian, french or british stalls...
  • Otherwise cross the Thames by Millennium Bridge and visit the St Paul's Cathedral. PS: There is an admission fee for the cathedral. And the last entry would be at 4pm. So if you couldn't make it, maybe you would like to take a virtual tour from here .
